Discover Stories of Hope, Courage and Resilience

A celebration of a long-awaited homecoming, a return to my love for storytelling after 16 years (after my first book was published in 2009).
The time is right for a second book. I recognize the moment is now when a story needs to be told. A masterful display of my love to find the human story within the larger trends.
A private Saturday afternoon devoted to launch “𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨” with family and friends.
It is my story about stories of eight exceptional personalities, six of whom are from Malaysia, and two from Singapore. Their untold tales of hope, courage and resilience will now become a beacon of strength for every reader.

💛 Karen Loh Wei Yen who is passionate about aged caring.
💚 𝗗𝗿. Parthiban Navoo, a distinguished neurosurgeon.
💜 Priscilla Ong, Founder of Project Love Lunch.

💙 Venon Tian, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of ZUS COFFEE.
❤️ Dr William Tan, a neuroscientist, medical doctor, Paralympic Superman.
May they inspire all of us to persevere relentlessly, and to bounce back from moments of despair. Especially, in today’s world of uncertainty, unpredictability, constant change, disruption and upheavals.
Let us all remember that there is always hope to:
Reset - a time to take stock.
Restart - take the positives, discard the negatives.
Rechart - have a fresh look at the present and the future.
The storm, in time, will always pass.
And to grace this momentous occasion, I reached out to my old friend whom I’ve known for more than 40 years from our university days. He is none other than Datuk Seri Chun Wai Wong, Chairman of Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA).
To add deeper meaning to the topic at hand over a 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘁, two good friends chipped in as I moderated sharing of their “life quakes” and personal journeys to discover purpose hidden within their toughest battles.

🧑🎤 Aimee Tan 陈爱妮🌸, Partner of Messrs. Aimee, Lau & CL Teh, & Director of Star Vista Education Malaysia.
Reflecting on how far I’ve come since I started on this book, I can’t help but feel how magically the stars are all aligned to deliver on this milestone. Is this serendipity at play?
Certainly, I’m even more driven by my desire to elevate my focus and commitment to Pay It Forward to communities and society, especially to all the children of the world.
A big shoutout to my “village” who have come forward to bring “𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨” to life. Thank you so much! 💗💗💗
Aren’t we all as tough as nails!💎
P.S. Next launch next day in Singapore.

This adventure is a one-of-a-kind celebration—a much-awaited homecoming and a rekindling of my passion for storytelling after a 16-year hiatus.
I return with a compelling message focusing on inspiring narratives of hope, courage, and resilience—qualities we all need as beacons of strength in challenging times.
“𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨” shares the untold true stories of eight remarkable personalities who faced immense adversity but found the courage to rise again, unified by the shared belief that every storm eventually passes.

This perspective on new beginnings is reinforced by what I call the "3Rs":
Reset - a time to take stock.
Restart - embrace the positives, leave the negatives behind.
Rechart - gain a fresh outlook on the path ahead.
I reached out to an old friend whom I’ve known for 16 years to grace this momentous occasion. Dr. Chittaranjan Jha, Partner & Director at Boston Consulting Group (BCG) said yes!
And four other great friends trusted me enough to accept my humble invitation to join the Fireside Chat. They only knew they had to do one thing - share their life quakes in their personal journeys to discover their purpose hidden within their toughest personal battles, while I moderated the session.

And my authorial journey continues, driven by a commitment to Pay It Forward, empowering the next generation and enriching communities and society, especially children globally.

🧡 Sixteen years. It’s been sixteen years since I published my first book. And stepping back into that space now felt like returning to a part of myself I'd long tucked away.
The most profound part?
💜 My village was there for me, with so much warmth that instantly calmed any lingering nerves.
🤎 The setting couldn't have been more perfect: a sunlit Saturday afternoon at the beautiful BookXcess in IOI Mall Damansara, surrounded by the quiet hum of fellow book lovers.
💛 I was there to share my second book, “𝙏𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝘼𝙨 𝙉𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨,” which I had finally brought into the world a fortnight prior during an intense, whirlwind 48-hour launch marathon across two cities,
Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
But this afternoon felt different; it felt intimate and deeply personal.
🩵 The room was filled with a magical, warm atmosphere that felt almost surreal. Friends I hadn't seen in ages had made time to reconnect, some travelled incredible distances—from Ipoh, Johor Bahru, and even an old friend from Tokyo who happened to be in town!
🩷 It turned into a spontaneous, heartwarming mini-reunion. Alongside them, perfect strangers, captivated by the energy, stopped their browsing to listen.
💙 It was as if they had all been waiting for this moment alongside me. Their presence felt surreal. I was overwhelmed by the sincerity of their welcome.
🧡 The magic continued as four other incredible voices from my village joined me on stage - Dr. Alicia White, DBA, FHEA, Azean Abu Samah, Ben Ho, and Adrian Ung.
💚 Their personal and professional life quakes were so powerful they gave us all goosebumps. Each story was a testament to resilience, a narrative that found its happy ending despite facing immense adversity.
❤️ We share a powerful common theme: that 𝙬𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙨𝙚 𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙞𝙣.
🤎 There is so much truth in that beautiful 𝘊.𝘚. 𝘓𝘦𝘸𝘪𝘴 quote: "𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘰 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨."
🧡 This afternoon was proof that our shared human experience is one of hope, courage and resilience. My heart is full.

This morning’s unforgettable Saturday Storytelling Santai was more than just an event. Despite the heavy drizzle, many showed up for the session. An early sign that the morning would be truly special.
And for that, I am deeply grateful.
As I looked across the room, it felt like magic. To witness the scene precisely as it existed in my mind’s eye during countless hours of planning was a deeply humbling, dream-come-true moment.
The room vibrated with palpable energy—faces lit up with happiness, broad smiles reflecting a shared sense of belonging in that Santai space.
Every one of us in the room became part of the unforgettable surprise, receiving a gesture of community that sparked warmth within each heart.
My core mission was simple yet profound: to liberate the truth about storytelling.
We need not be a polished, professional orator to share a deeply compelling, life-altering story. The empowerment begins the moment we choose authenticity.
We watched, listened intently, mesmerized, as narratives woven by our five invited storytellers sparked flickers of courage within us all. They didn’t just share their stories.
Jason Lau, Crystal Lim, Jaime Yong, Jeffrey Low and Marina Hussain, you gave us permissions to begin our own journeys with hashtag#hope, hashtag#courage and hashtag#resilience. For that, thank you so much. 😊
We saw stories unfold seamlessly within other stories.
This cycle of giving continued right down to the joyous frenzy when everyone opened their blind goodie bags. Of course, not everyone’s goodie bag was the same! A moment of pure magic.
Then the crescendo of joy and frenzy filled the room. A blind box was nestled in each blind goodie bag: Twinkle Twinkle Series Plush Pendant Blind Box!
Emphasizing the endless stories hidden in plain sight!
My big hope is that everyone left the session feeling a little bit more confident and excited about using storytelling to really connect with others.
Truth is, every single one of us is a natural storyteller. Sometimes, we just need a friendly space and a chance to share our voice.
Storytelling will never be the same again. I am eternally grateful to have finally paid this dream forward to such a receptive, beautiful community.

💜 What an absolute joy it has been to kick off 2026 by spreading my Pay It Forward mission so close to my heart!
It all started on 13 December 2025, when I hosted the “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘔𝘺 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺?” 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia🇲🇾

The exhilarating energy from that day told me I had hit on something truly meaningful.
💜 My mission has always been simple: 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥, 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨.
It is, quite simply, the heartbeat and critical soft skill of 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 and 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣.
💜 With that spark, I asked myself: 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙚?
It was a leap into the unknown for me, but I found so much courage in the wisdom of 𝘛𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘢𝘴 𝘑𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯: “𝘐𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘩𝘢𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦.”
💜 So, on 26 January 2026, I was deeply humbled to host the first segment of the "𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗠𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆?" 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.
I wanted to create a Psychologically Safe, "sweet" spot where leaders feel comfortable to uncover their hidden narrators without judgment. Because in our circle, there is no such thing as a "stupid" story.
We found our home on a Wednesday evening mid-week after work hours at Madame Ooze Ice Cream Cafe & Dessert Bar. Between bites of their famous MO. CroCream, ice cream served inside a crispy croissant, 🥐🍦something magical happened.
💜 I watched as "hidden narrators" emerged—leaders who initially felt they had "nothing to share" joined in with their stories of hope, courage, resilience, humour, and heart.
The chemistry was unbelievable!
💜 We made new friends, shared deep laughter, and realized just how small and connected our world really is.
Frankly, it felt like a modern-day fireplace gathering, where stories bind us together.
I am truly grateful for the trust all of you placed in this "first" experience. Xiao Qing, Clinton Tay, Mrinal Jana, Jun Jie Foo, Chai Chew SOO (PCC, CPLC, MBA) and Jonathan Cheung, (张英杰) FCIPS (Chartered)/CITP (Chartered IT Professional). Thank you so much for showing up with your awesome support! 😊🙌
And the fire is still burning!
If you missed this first session, no worries! We’ve already reserved a seat for you in our next circle. Watch this space!

After many of my LinkedIn connections and my publisher, Kanyin Publications, began sharing photos of my newly-launched second book appearing in stores across Kuala Lumpur, (KL), Petaling Jaya (PJ), and Singapore, I knew I had to see it for myself.
This morning, following my Sunday exercise workout, I swung by the bookstore, Popular Book Co. (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. @ 1 Utama, PJ.
Standing there, seeing "𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗔𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀" displayed as a 𝙋𝙤𝙥𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙧’𝙨 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙅𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙖𝙧𝙮 2026*, I was overcome with a quiet, profound sense of gratitude.
To see those pages on the shelf—reminiscent of many late nights, heart and energy that went into them—was a moment I will truly cherish.
I am so thankful to my publisher and the bookstores across the region for giving these stories a home.
And to know that at this time this book is also available in the following major physical bookstores in Malaysia and Singapore, with many other international cities in the works now.

More importantly, knowing that every royalty I earn is channeled directly to support underprivileged children makes this journey feel truly purposeful.
It’s my small and humble legacy of giving, my way of turning words into tangible hope.
If you happen to spot “𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗔𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀" at a bookstore near you, please do share a photo or tag me in your post.
And if you’ve had a chance to read it, I would be so grateful if you shared your thoughts or a review.
